Hmmm. The robot-lovin' crowd are at it again. As if people already don't waste enough time surfing the Web, IM-ing their friends and blogging while at work. Now there're robots.
Keepon (pronounced kee-pong) is a small creature-like robot developed to perform emotional and attentional interaction with children. It has four degrees of freedom, a soft rubber skin, two cameras in its eyes, and a microphone in its nose. Keepon is designed and built by Hideki Kozima.
As an aside, today, in downtown Berkeley, I walked by two U.S. Postal Service mailboxes, side by side. One was, as you would expect, a mailbox, but the other was painted, with loving attention to detail, as R2-D2.
They're taking over. (But perhaps we deserve it.)
